the photo that lit the spark

this picture was taken at first birmingham umc in michigan. it was one of the results when i searched "maundy thursday" in google images. after talking to some of the staff at the church and reviewing their order of worship for that night, i realized that we could do something like this for our holy thursday service at grace. that night was the beginning of the well. the rest is history in the making...

please pray

please pray for the grieving community of university baptist church in waco, tx. their pastor, kyle lake, died sunday during a baptism due to electrocution.

kyle was friend to many and an influential leader in the emergent movement.

lynnette has listed links to several blogs and news reports here.

desert detours

i was looking through kim miller's handbook for multisensory worship vol ii today and saw that there was a gathering where they actually laid out a tarp and dumped about fifty pounds of sand on the stage.

the meadow (green meadow umc in alcoa, tenn) filled the entire sanctuary with sand during lent this year.

we filled our sanctuary with hay for vacation bible school a couple weeks ago. what i'm saying is...let your imaginations run wild. we are quick to say, "the kids will love this," when it comes to planning vbs. the truth is: we love it too.

i'm not neccesarily suggesting the sand thing (i'm not discounting it either), but i am saying that it's time for us to get excited about the possibilities at the well. let your imaginations run wild.
